Earlier in the year 2021 we got the opportunity to work with the youngest group of students we’ve had an opportunity to work with in the recent times. Dmitriy Shilin used to present the course to hundreds of young scholars in his native Ukraine, but since we have started reintroducing the course the clients we work with tend to be older professionals and executives. So what happens when you deliver the Shilin Speed Reading Program to a group of 11 to 13 year olds? Over just 9-days of training we were able to increase their reading speeds from around 200 words per minute to between 800 and 3900 words per minute.
Young Herman was the first to notice the change that the exercises were having when he realised for that he had just read over 1000 words per minute for the first time. Herman eventually went onto complete the course at over 2400 words per minute.
11-year old Herman’s full progression in reading speed on our 3-week course. Increasing his reading speed from 207 words per minute to over 2000 words per minute, making him most probably one of the fastest reading 11-year olds in the World at the time.
12-year old Sandra achieved the largest increase in reading in the group. Increasing her reading
speed from 112 words per minute to over 3900 words per minute.
She was able to perceive and interpret the meaning in four lines of text in the same time the average human being reads a single word.
And by doing so reported being able to finish a book she was reading in just 10 minutes, leading her to ask her mom to buy her more and more books.
The remaining students in the group completed the course over 800 and 1000 words per minute respectively.
